So a nice week in Boston is coming to an end. I spent a good amount of my time getting the Gray Ghost ready for the long haul. She’s feeling good after a tune-up last week. Thanks to Hal at Dulles Shell and Fast Eddie for the recommendation. While in Boston, I changed oil, oil filter, air filter, re-bolted the front bumper, and topped off fluids. With the help of Jean and Blandine, the two French kids I mentioned earlier, we cleaned her up and have her looking as good as she has in a long time. I’m cautiously optimistic that we might actually make it.
I also tagged along on a couple of the activities which my mom had lined up for the kids. We went on a duck tour, swimming in Walden Pond, and fishing in Cochituate Lake. We caught a bunch of bluegill sunfish and, just as we were heading back to the dock, one smallmouth bass. I read up on how to filet them and tried my luck. Results were mixed. I got maybe an ounce of meat from each, but I feel like I was getting the hang of it by the end.
Tomorrow, I’ll be driving to Stony Point to meet up with my frienemy Kyle Joyce. Until then I’ll be tongue-kissing Cubby good-bye.
